I was given a used wire dog crate and parts of it are rusted. Can I just paint over them to keep the rust from getting on my carpet? Or what would I do? I really don’t want rust stains on my carpet.

Answer by ZAM! POW! BANG! its best if you sanded it if you painted over it the paint would chip off and then you’d just get rust and paint stains
