Review of the Oster A5 Turbo 2-Speed Professional Animal Clipper
Article by Guy H
Grooming is one of the most essential parts of being an owner of any pet. Whether you are taking care of a pet just to have a companion or you are raising them in order to breed animals for pet competitions, to groom them is one of the most basic and most important ways to perform your duties as a pet caretaker. One of the most essential equipment in grooming pets is clippers. You use these tools to cut hair from the animal to make them more clean looking and presentable. Among the many producers of animal clippers is Oster. One of their products is the Oster A5 Turbo 2-Speed Professional Animal Clipper.
What Are The Features?
This clipper produced by Oster is sure to help you groom the animals in your household such as dogs and cats. With its superior technologies, giving them a haircut is made simpler. Weighing at 2 pounds, it packs a lot of features in its relatively compact shell. It is designed for heavy duty use, being both strong and reliable at the same time. It is suitable for all conditions, and is sure to come back grooming session after grooming session strong. It is powered by a universal rotary motor that is capable of going at 2 speeds. At low speed, the clipper goes at 3000 strokes a minute, and it goes at 4000 strokes a minute when switched at high speed. It is compatible with all types of A5 blades and Take-Down-Quick blades, and these blades are easily detached using its efficient detachable blade system. Standard equipment for this clipper is the silver ion coated blade that prevents the growth of bacteria and molds. Additional equipment includes a blade cover, cleaning brushes, blade oil, and an instructional manual, among other bonus equipment. What Are Customers Saying?
There are a lot of reviews for the Oster A5 Turbo 2-Speed Professional Animal Clipper, and most of them are generally positive. The first thing that owners notice about this clipper is that it cuts hair very efficiently. The combination of a powerful motor and a sharp blade allow it to come through even against the toughest grooming assignments. In addition, it is built to be tough as nails. After a lot of use, it doesn’t show a bit of wear and tear. It is safe to say that this clipper can last for years. On the downside, adaptor kits don’t work for this product. Another concern for this blade is that it has a tendency to overheat, which hampers its usefulness and durability so much. If you’re going to use it as a commercial clipper, it may not exactly be a good idea because of the overheating issue.
To close this review, the thing that can be said about the Oster A5 Turbo 2-Speed Professional Animal Clipper is that it is one efficient clipper. Overheating issues aside, it is very good in doing what it does, and its ease of use is always going to be an asset.

Dog Clippers question by ellimae2007: why do the blades get so dull so fast on my dog clippers?
I have bought several “kits” by Oster and Wahl and after only one clipping, the blade is dull and won’t cut? Plus, you can never find the replacement blades where you bought the kit. So..I have to keep buying another kit. The replacement blades online are more than the whole kit. This is so frustrating! Any help? or are these kits just cheap and undependable?

Are you clipping a clean mat free dog? Are you keeping your blades cool, clean and lubricated during and after use? Hot dirty unlubricated blades get hot and dull quickly.
If your dog is a heavy coated dog with a thick undercoat, that will be a problem too. These home kit clippers were meant to cut clean mat free hair that is not very thick. If you are clipping dirty matted dogs or dogs with really heavy hair coats you are better off buying a commercial pair of clippers that have interchangeable blades. They do cost more. Most are over $ 100 but they are less frustrating to use.
You can also have the blades on you kit clippers sharpened which is cheaper then buying a new pair all the time. Call your vet, pet shop, or groomer and ask where they have their blades sharpened. Not all sharpeners are created equal either.
