Spoil Your Pooch At A Dog Grooming Salon

Most people love to do things for others to show how much they appreciate and love them, and also to thank them for things that have been done for them. This can be through various avenues, as in buying flowers, chocolates, taking them for a day out or to the movies. Even a nice dinner party at home is a great way to show appreciation and love. Showing love and appreciation to our pets is of course a bit different, because our daily love and attention is constantly there, giving him the best we can. However a visit to a dog grooming salon in one thing your pet will love.

With the numerous breeds of feline and canine pets, it can be hard to choose one, but whatever we do choose should be from a registered breeder to ensure they are good natured and not prone to genetic defects.  Dog breeders usually have boarding kennels Brisbane available for when you cannot take your pet away with you and they get the best of care there. They will receive the very best of care from the qualified staff who know how to handle any situations that arise.  They will ensure your pet is exercised, properly fed and is accommodated in comfortable conditions. There are even sessions for playtime to keep them happy while you are away.

Your pet will feel quite pampered and fussed over with the grooming Brisbane service there. Most dogs love the extra attention they receive in these sessions, which should be an extension of the care you give them at home. They also love to be pampered as much as we do and there is plenty of opportunity available for this with numerous dog grooming salons in most areas. Hydro baths, flea control, brushing their coats, clipping their nails, and giving them hair trims and styles for dogs like poodles are all carried out in dog salons. You can even have a little bow put in a tuft of hair on their head if you want to after it is blow dried. It does look quite cute.

Pets give us so much unconditional love, are medically proven to uplift elderly patients in aged care facilities, are so intelligent they can be trained as helpers for sight and hearing affected people, police dogs, sniffer dogs that can find drugs as well as people trapped in rubble after earthquakes, they are priceless in value. Even our loyal, lovable pet pooches at home are priceless and they all deserve the best. Reward them for their loyalty and affection with a day at a grooming salon and let them enjoy the pampering. They will love it.

Dog Grooming Tools

Dog Grooming Tools question by Lissy: What is the best way to de-mat my dog with these tools?
I have a havanese that gets particularly whiney when I de-groom him, so I would like to make it as comfortable for him as possible. I bought de-tangler and a de-matting brush. I also have a steel comb, scissors and a regular brush.
What’s the best (and most comfortable) way to get these mats o out? Thanks!

~ Have you ever tried a leave in dog conditioner?

It helps for dogs that have long hair that mats easily. Also, comb through it slowly while holding part of the hair at the top so you don’t pull the skin. I use a big soft plastic brush and then a little comb for little tangles on my Poodles. However, I keep them cut down so this is usually not a problem other than the ears. I would give the conditioner a try, and make sure you only try to brush when the hair is dry as wet hair tangles easier.

Keeping Your Dog Groomed

It is all so tempting when you see that bundle of fluff in the pet shop window, to take him home without thinking of the ongoing maintenance.

They soon grow out of their cotton candy coats and can turn into matted balls of mischief!

Many people don’t realise that a lot of long haired dogs – Poodles, Schihtzu, Bishons and Maltese etc require everyday grooming and a trip to the beauty parlour every 6 weeks just to keep them in a manageable condition. This has to be done from 6 weeks of age so they get used to the process of brushing and clipping and get used to being handled otherwise they can become aggressive and frightened.

Also long haired dogs may be more prone to fleas and it may be harder to find ticks in their coats. This all has to be taken into account when purchasing that cute little puppy with the big brown eyes.

The fancy show clips you see on the Poodles with all the pom poms on their legs heads and tails and the Maltese with silky white coats down to the ground, these are dogs that are bred for showing and breeding, they are used to spending hours a day on a grooming table being clipped and brushed and blow dried, in reality if you work 5 days a week, have children, have hobbies or in fact have any life at all, it is impossible to keep the average family pet like this.

It is far more practical to keep your dog clipped and comfortable so you only have to do a once a week brush through and a regular visit to the beauty parlour.

You can learn to clip your own dog, this will save an awful lot of money throughout the life of your dog, and you just need a few basic tools and a good pair of animal clippers to start out, and if maintained these should last you the life of your best friend.

A good quality shampoo is important in the care of your dog, I recommend only buying shampoo from a Veterinary Surgery or good quality Pet Shop. Washing any pet in human shampoo or soap can lead to skin irritations and problems, they have a completely different ph balance in their skin than we do, so fo a few cents more it can end up saving you a lot of money in the long term. http//www.doggroominglessons.net

Pampered pooches: A look at some of the more eccentric dog grooming methods

If you have ever looked at people with their pet’s hair clipped into a peculiar style and thought that it was a bit extreme, prepare to be amazed. There is a growing market for the truly spoilt pet that may surprise even the keenest dog fanatic.

People taking their dogs to be groomed can now get far more than a simple wash and clip. In true pampered pooch style they can then have their hair washed and styled using dog gel and hair spray and then dyed in a rainbow array of doggie hair dye.

A trend for creative grooming’ which started in the US is starting to reach the UK where dogs (especially poodles) have their hair cut and dyed to look like other animals. There is a craze for lionizing’ dogs (ie shaving off their hair and leaving them with a mane) but also competitions where dogs are styled to look like peacocks, camels, pandas, dolphins and even mermaids!

To supplement your dog’s new hairdo, online pet supplies stores stock a surprisingly large range of hair clips, tiaras, wigs and even hair extensions in a wide range of colours. Dogs can have also add to their look by having their claws not only trimmed but also painted with a special range of dog nail pawlish’.

To finish the look off, some dogs then have pretend’ diamante earrings pasted on to their ears and a puff of dog perfume to ensure that their pet always smells its best.

If the idea of stick on earrings seems too cheap, a number of online stores stock a range of clip on dog earrings in a range of styles. Taken one step further unfortunately some outlets offer dog ear piercing with tales of one owner asking for only one ear to be pierced as their dog was a boy! At the far extreme there are also dog piercing parlours that pierce nipples, bellies and noses as well as offering dog tattoos (of course if this seems a bit extreme you can always take the temporary tattoos for pets route!).

Finally if you are worried that your dog might suffer from dog breath after eating their (surely designer, organic) dog food then there are several ranges of dog breath mints especially for them. Get them home and you can rest assured that your dog will no longer make do with an ordinary average dog bed- leather and gold all the way!
