Dog Grooming Clippers question by alex: What are the best clippers for grooming a dog (maltese poodle mix)?
I just rescued a dog, but it badly needs grooming and I can’t afford a professional groomer, so I intend to buy grooming gear and learn to do it myself. For clippers there are Oster models, Andis and all kinds of other brands. I want good but moderately priced clippers. Does anybody out there know what I should buy?

for the price of a pair of clippers you could pay some one to groom the dog in the UK ihave some wahl clippers they were 60 pounds i groom my dogs myself,it would cost less than that to pay some one to do it and i would not recommend clipping a dog your self if you have never done so before

I want to learn dog grooming but there is no schools close to me where I can take a course. On-line courses are offered but I feel it is a hands on learning experience. Where do I start?

Look for a job where they do dog grooming like SuperPetz or Petsmart for example. See if they have on the job training. I wouldn’t go to a independent shop. They are more family owned and want family members working there.
