I would use a no. 7 blade before the bath, and then after bathing and drying, try using a 7F.

A word of warning.

I tried to do the clippers on a medium coat.

It’s way harder than it looks.
The only good thing about it is that hair grows back!

Good clippers will set you back a lot of dough. You can’t use the cheaper human ones because dog coats are finer and they hurt them when you use them.

And then there’s the mess to clean up!
