Have you tried Craigslist.com or Ebay.com? second hand shops might have them..but a small crate can be about $ 15-20 at walmart about the same for a dog bed too.

I knew this one person fro Tennesse, but we ordered the clothes in like october, and they still arent here. and we live in California. Do u know anybody who makes dog clothes by hand? cause i dont like the clothes from petco or petsmart.

FOR THE PUPPY SEARCHER

My most exciting thrill is connecting a new pet with a new owner! In the last 25 years, I have worked professionally as a pet groomer/shop owner. My customers have become my friends; and if I had any advice I would say,”Do your homework!”.

For example an Old English Sheepdog is one of the fluffiest, cutest pups-in its first 2 months before size, hair, chewing begins. The breed is wonderful, but not for everyone. It seems there is a pattern when a movie portrays a dog that that breed becomes the “popular” breed. A great example is “Shiloh”. Suddenly I was inundated with beagles! Now I love beagles as I have a great appreciation for almost all breeds. I say the average family hasn’t a clue on the training needed for a beagle. This breed is very hyper outdoors: a one-minded dog, especially when he is “on the scent”. There is no reasoning with a beagle who is “on the scent” of anything! And having him return to you before he finds his scent…Good Luck!

Today a popular characteristic in a dog is whether its fur is hypo-allergenic or rather your “non=shedding” type. Breeds such as Maltese, Poodles, Lhasa Apso , Tibetan Terriers, Wheaton Terriers, Portuguese Water Dogs, Shih – tzus , etc are a few examples of non-shedders . Obviously these breeds are popular due to people not having an allergic reaction to their coat.

Now these breeds may not shed (“shed” being defined as having hair fall onto your floor); but they do have a cotton “undercoat” that loosens itself and gets tangled or “matted” in the longer outer coat. Thus you are in for a lifetime of having your pet

groomed every 1-2 months at a cost ranging from $35-$70 or more. If this procedure doesn’t take place, your loving pet with be a walking cast of matts (tangles) that tighten every time they move or get moist.

I can hear some customers say,”I don’t spend that much on my own hair!”. To which my response is like a knee jerk reaction,” When’s the last time your hair dresser expressed your anal glands, cleaned your ears, clipped your nails, brushed all your matts out ‘all’ over your body-as in ..everywhere?!” Think of all the grooming our bodies need (some more than others) ..well so does our furry friends.

It may sound trite, but having a pet is more than food, shelter, and grooming. Most dogs can have an incredible intelligence level, a huge vocabulary, and are a social pack animal -as are we. The responsibility for social interaction with owners is all the more important because dogs are a social animal. This pet’s intelligence is to be compared with a child- some only 1-2 years old; yet some have higher IQ’s than some teenagers I’ve met. So don’t neglect interaction: play, time spent, and acknowledging them.

Alas, pet lovers just need to be aware of what they are getting into before they make the 10-15 year commitment. Let it be known that smaller dogs tend to live the longest. Although my client does have a 19 year old labrador, so you never really know how long the commitment will be.

Please don’t make the decision lightly! Be committed!

If you have a child then eventually his or her little voice will probably utter the words, ‘can we get a pet dogie?’ Depending on your thinking and circumstances your answer may be yes or no. If it is yes however, then with bringing a dog into your home you are presented with a unique opportunity to teach your child about proper dog care.

When children see a cute dog, providing that they haven’t had any negative experiences regarding dogs, they will want to put their arms around them. They will want to run their hands through the dogs fur and to kiss them on the nose. Although this may sound lovely in reality it isn’t always a good idea.

There are ways of handling a dog that are best for children. These ways have to be taught otherwise a child may get themselves inadvertently nipped and hurt. The result of this can be a dog being put down and a child being fearful of dogs forever.

Children are liable to tug at a dogs tail, and possibly to pull their fur. For them this is experimental behaviour, but for the dog it is a nightmare that could end badly.

The way to teach a child to handle a dog is to tell them that they mustn’t accidentally hurt the dog in any way. They need to understand that the dog has feelings and isn’t just a cuddly toy to be bounced on and thrown about.

Showing your child that a dog needs regular food and drink can teach them to be caring and thoughtful. Letting them join in with such activities so can also help them to bond with their new pet. If you are letting them give the dog her food then you will also need to teach your child about how animals can be protective of their dinner.

Some dogs are less protective, and don’t mind others interfering with their food, while others can become defensive. There-fore your child shouldn’t be left unsupervised during the feeding time of your dog and should understand that they mustn’t interfere once the dog bowl is placed on the ground.

Hopefully you will have chosen a child friendly dog, from a recommended breed that is known to be good with children. However, caution is always necessary when it comes to children and dogs.

Another important part of a dogs care is exercise and playtime. This is where a child and dog can really benefit the most from each others company, becoming strong play friends and instilling a love of dogs into your child’s heart.

You may choose to begin taking your child along with you while you walk your dog, and bringing with you a frisbee or ball for you all to play with. Your child and your dog will love this and will have allot of fun. When you feel your child is old enough, you may want to let them take charge of the dogs exercise altogether.

While you are still going along on walks though, teach your child how to handle your dog in a social situation, so that later on they can cope alone. This means showing them how to control the dog when other dogs come along, and also how to retrieve the dog if she happens to rush off each time she spies new dog friends on the horizon.

Finally, grooming is an important part of your dogs care too. Some love to be groomed. It gets all of the dirt and itchy bits and bobs that have been picked up during walks out of their fur and makes them feel good. other dogs are not so keen.

If your dog does enjoy being brushed then you can teach your child how this can be done by demonstrating. They will need to know how to brush your dog without being too harsh and accidentally hurting her, as well as how to reach all areas that need grooming the easiest way.

Hopefully your dog and your child will become great friends and will be wonderful companions. When a child makes a close bond with an animal the memory stays with them forever like a never ending gift.
