Poodles have been a popular amongst MILLIONS of people around the globe. Poodles are just wonderful dogs. They are glorious dogs with great features. I will state their features and explain more about this great breed of dog. Poodles, wow, are you serious?

Poodles come in three different sizes. They can be toy poodles, miniature poodles or the standard poodles. Poodles are dogs with the non shedding feature. This feature is admired by dog breeders so this feature makes this dog popular in the breeding process. They are usually bred for their non shedding feature. They have an allergen free feature as well which makes them compatible with people who have allergies with dogs. The toy poodles, miniature poodles, and standard poodles look the same, the only difference being, the sizes of these dogs. The poodles have a wiry coat of fur which needs to be groomed daily and the poodle should be bathed after every other day or if they are dirty. The poodle comes in a variety of colors like white, cream, blue, brown, tan, black and some other bright and dark colors. The poodle is known to be one of the world’s most intelligent dog breed there is. This is also a feature which makes it popular.

The toy poodle is the smallest version of the poodle. The toy poodle is really smart and is a popular choice among dog lovers. The appearance is the same like all the other poodles. It can come in a variety of colors. It needs to be groomed daily and bathed as needed. Since it is small it might have to go to the bathroom more. It might be around 13 inches tall. The toy poodle makes an excellent watch dog because it has a high pitched bark. If you live in an apartment this poodle would be an excellent choice but it should be trained not to bark because if it does bark a lot then the people next door will come and complain so Beware. It is still a great dog.

The miniature poodle is the medium sized poodle. The miniature poodle is also really smart and looks the same as the toy poodle and the standard poodle. The miniature might be around 20 inches tall. The miniature poodle makes for an excellent watch dog because it does bark a lot. Also, the owner should groom this dog everyday and give it a bath as needed. The miniature poodle is also a great dog for the apartment life because it is also pretty small. Two words “Great Dog.”

The standard poodle is the biggest of them all. The standard poodle is intelligent and stands around 30 inches. The standard poodle is a popular choice among dog owners. This poodle makes an excellent watch dog as well because it barks a lot. Like the other types of poodles it needs to be groomed daily and bathed as needed.

Here you have it the great features of the toy poodle, miniature poodle, and the standard poodle. Remember that the poodle needs to be groomed daily and that it is a really lovable dog. A simple sentence would describe it, “A great dog with some great features.” The poodle has some admired features and would love to be under the care of a great dog owner.

The best dogs for apartment living

Many people in the world live in apartments and are still yearning to get a dog that is suitable for the apartment life. When considering to get a dog, one must know what type of area it needs to live in. For some dogs apartment life is a really good habitat for them. Bigger dogs might need a bigger place to live in but smaller dogs need less space to live in. This makes apartments seem reasonable choices for small breeds of dogs.

Yorkshire terriers will find apartment lives to be good. Yorkshire terriers are a small breed of dogs that have a non shedding feature. Yorkshire terriers which can be called yorkie for short have a silky, smooth and straight coat of hair that hangs elegantly on both sides of its body. Yorkies will find apartment lives to be good because they don’t need a lot of space which is a great advantage in having a yorkie as a pet. This pet will also need a lot of grooming to be done so it would be good to have grooming equipment in your apartment. Yorkies do bark alot so the result will probably be, the people next door coming and saying “your dog barks alot. Yorkies can be restrained. This pet will also have to be housetrained. If not, well you’ll get a mess on the carpet. These small little dogs don’t need that much exercise.

Toy or Miniature Poodles are also great dogs that can find the apartment life suitable. For some background information, poodles are dogs with wiry fur and they to have the non shedding feature. Poodles also have to be groomed daily and bathed as needed. Poodles find apartment life suitable because toy poodles are small dogs and don’t need that much space to live in. Same goes for the miniature poodle. Poodles do bark alot but like all dogs that bark a lot poodles can be restrained. Poodles are known to be one of the most intelligent dogs in the world. Since they are intelligent they can be trained to live in a really small place and prevented to do certain things you don’t want it to do. These dogs also don’t need that much exercise.

Note: Poodles can be hard to take care of if you don’t have time to groom it everyday or bathe it once in a while. Remember a poodle’s fur is its glory. This dog is still recommended.

The small Maltese can also be a really great choice when choosing a suitable dog for the apartment life. For some information, the Maltese is a small little dog with the non shedding feature. This dog is really small which makes it a good choice when choosing a dog for the apartment life. The

Why the poodle is a popular dog in the USA

Poodles have enjoyed a long tenure as one of America’s most popular dogs. The name is most likely derived from the German word “pudel” which alludes to their origins as water dogs bred for hunting. And boy, can most poodles swim a great lap around the kiddie pool in the summer! The miniature breed was perfected in France, primarily as a companion animal. And a more agreeable companion than a poodle would be hard to find.

Nearly everyone has heard of the hypoallergenic qualities of a poodle’s coat. Simply put, the single coat of a poodle functions more like human hair than fur, and therefore does not cause an allergic reaction in humans like other dog’s fur. The poodle coat also never falls out, eliminating the constant layer of hair on clothing, carpets, and small children who have not yet learned to walk upright. Poodles require regular haircuts, either from the neighborhood groomer or through the careful application of a clipper set purchased at your local pet supply store, like Petco. Trust me, clipping you own dog is a wonderful bonding experience, even if the first few trims look like you used the hedge clippers. There is a reason that poodles reqularly do well in the National Dog Shows; who can resist such excellent haircuts on those doggie divas?

If high fashion haircuts are not your style, just ask your groomer for a regular puppy cut. It simply trims the hair to a uniform length, and leaves a little fluffyiness on his ears and head. The tail poof is optional. Cuts in most cities costs around twenty to forty dollars, which is a small price to pay for the freedom from lint brushes and vacuum cleaners that most other breeds require.

These dogs come in a number of sizes, and can be chosen to reflect an owners lifestyle and activity level. My miniature poodle is a dynamo, he jogs regularly with me and can tolerate several miles of activity. If you don’t wish to exercise strenuously, perhaps the toy poodle, or it’s tiny cousin the teacup poodle, would be the right size. These tiny dogs, averaging less than 7 pounds, would be perfect for the occasional stroll around the block.

A standard poodle, with it’s adventuous spirit, would be an excellent companion for the outdoorsey, hiking type. With energy to spare, this dog could handle biking, hiking, running or similar types of activities. A close cropped cut would even eliminate the collecting of brambles, sticks, and other detritus that the longer haired breeds collect on the trail.

All poodles share a lively intelligence, and an ability to provide companionship to the entire family. Poodles are certainly crowd pleasers, and my groomer informs me that most poodles generally perform a variant of the “poodle dance.” They rise on their hind legs, and frantically wave their fromt paws in a rapid, up and down motion when they want you attention. Perhaps that’s why they are so easily trained as circus performers.

Poodles love human companionship, and will generally leap up and fill any lap that presents itself. They also make fierce protectors, even though a 7 pound guardian may be hard to take seriously. Poodles temperment requires them to investigate strange noises and people. Well trained poodles should cease their investigation upon the owner’s command. There simply is no drawback to owning a poodle.

Even president Obama has been photographed holding a small white poodle as part of an awareness campaign for the SPCA. If he chooses wisely, next puppy in the White House will be a one of America’s most popular dog breeds, the poodle. Perhaps you should consider on for you family as well!

Things to consider when choosing a dog – Part 1

Choosing The Best Dog For A Senior Citizen

Senior citizens love their dogs – and their dogs love them. But because of differences in size, personality and activity level, some types of dogs may be more appropriate for seniors than others. A senior who is considering getting a dog can use the information in this article to help narrow down their decision on just which dog to get. There are well over 100 different dog breeds and an almost infinite number of different mixed breed dog types. Large or small, long hair or short hair, high energy or calm and placid, mixed breed dog or purebred? It can all get a bit confusing if you’re looking for a new dog, and especially if you’re a senior citizen. I’ll try to help sort out some of the factors to consider.

Some types of dogs may be more appropriate for senior citizens than other types, but the best dog for a senior citizen is the dog the senior citizen really wants. A strong emotional bond between the senior and the dog will go a long way toward overcoming some circumstances (such as size or energy level) that might otherwise be a bit overwhelming for the senior citizen. But in general, when deciding to get a dog, a senior citizen should take his or her physical condition into account.

Size

Dogs come in all sizes, from tiny teacup

size (only 2 or 3 pounds) to bigger than a small person (125 pounds and more). Imagine the difference between having a 10 pound miniature Poodle on a leash and a 130 pound Mastiff. Although there are exceptions, in general a smaller dog would be much easier for a senior citizen to control.

Long Hair or Short Hair?

Many people fall in love with the beautiful long hair of a Yorkshire Terrier, an Irish Setter, a Golden Retriever or one of the many other long-haired dog breeds. The coats of these dogs are truly gorgeous, but they can take a lot of time, effort and money with frequent brushing and combing and regular baths and trips to the groomer a necessity.

Now think about a “wash and wear” type of dog, one with a short coat such as a Beagle (or if you prefer a larger dog, something like a Labrador Retriever). The only grooming that’s really required for this type of dog is an occasional bath (often only once or twice a year), an occasional brushing (maybe once a week) and nail trimming once a month or so. These dogs are just as loving, but much less time-consuming and less expensive too.

Energy Level

Everyone likes to watch an energetic, playful dog. They’re fun to be around, but they can be a bit tiring too. A Labrador Retriever that wants to constantly play fetch (for hours on end) or go for 5 mile walks can wear a senior citizen out. So can a dog like a Jack Russell Terrier – lovely dogs, but they’re almost always “busy” at something!

Some dogs just have lower energy and activity levels than other dogs. A “couch potato” dog – one who likes to relax and lounge about – would be perfect for many senior citizens. Older dogs are often more sedate than puppies and young adult dogs. Dog rescue groups and dog shelters are full of unwanted older dogs, so you might want to consider adopting one of these homeless dogs.

Just Remember, Your Dog Will Love You No Matter What Kind of Dog It Is.
