Significant Dog Grooming Fundamentals

Proper care or dog grooming is the most important side of dog ownership. Just like humans, dogs have to go through grooming frequently to feel or look their absolute finest. A dog’s grooming wants will principally rely on its hair type and breed. Here are some important dog grooming basics.

Hair Brushing is one of the most important things worth doing if you wish to keep your dog well groomed. Hair brushing sessions can not just assist in maintaining the healthy coat of the pet but can also foster a better bond between the dog and its owner. A dog’s brushing needs will typically depend on its hair type. While regular brushing is advised for long haired dogs, it is also sound procedure that short haired dogs go in for once a month brushing and grooming also , this keeps them familiar with the practice.

Nail trimming is another crucial duty of grooming your dog that is often loathed by both the dogs and their owners. You can stop dogs from developing a hatred to nail trimming by learning the right strategy to do the job, preferably from a vet expert or groomer. Generally dogs may need monthly trims, but the rate of growth of the dog can also be a deciding factor for the frequency of nail trims, so you need to keep an eye on that too.

Washing is the following imperative component of dog grooming without which you can’t expect your pet to be clean. You can make the showering experience a positive one for you and your dog by learning the proper way to bath your dog. This can help your dog to get used to this ritual and even like it, naturally this will take time. You can bathe your dog constantly, however less than once per fortnight, appears to be what most groomers and vets have a tendency to endorse. Use of an exclusive soap-free shampoo that is made specially for dogs is extremely important. The water for bathing the dog should be neither too hot nor cold, be absolutely sure the water is a modest temperature.

When it comes to dog grooming, ear cleaning and hair cutting are other critical aspects that can’t be ignored. While some dogs will require occasional ear cleaning, there are others that can require 1 or 2 cleanings each day due to the protracted ear issues that plague them. You can hire the services of professional groomers for giving your dogs regular hair cuts in the event you are not assured to do the job yourself.

Thus, grooming of dogs can ensure the overall well being and health of your dog in the best possible way. By following the aforesaid suggestions, you can be assured that your dog will both look and feel good.

You will find many dog parlours and grooming centers all around Australia, where you can take your dog for a grooming session to be certain he stays healthy and contented at all times. It’s a sensible idea to take you dog along while he or she is still a puppy dog, so they get used to the ritual. Oh and make sure they are clean, be sure they’re the ideal fit for your dog, some use cages while others, use leads, so spend a while doing research for the best fit for you and your dogs wishes the last thing you would like to do is make it a hideous experience for your dog.

Is your loveable pet shedding gobs of hair all over the house? Here’s the solution!

Is your loveable pet shedding gobs of hair all over the house? Here’s the solution!

Lеt’ѕ face іt. You lоvе your pеtѕ, and thеу give ѕо much lоvе back tо you, but when pеt shedding ѕеаѕоn starts, wіth hair lеft on еvеrу available ѕurfаcе of уоur house, іt can drіvе you tо distraction. Ιf you’ve gоt allergies tо pet hаіr, you’re dоnе for, unlеѕѕ you cаn find а solution thаt keeps уоu and уоur pets hаppу.

Υоur furry frіеndѕ, especially dоgѕ, build up a ѕubѕtаntіаl amount оf extra fur to kееp them wаrm through thе cold mоnthѕ. Probably thе worst cаѕе scenario іnvоlvеѕ long-haired dоgѕ who ѕpеnd a lоt of tіmе outdoors wіth indoor аccеѕѕ as wеll. When ѕprіng rolls аrоund, that dоg starts drоppіng hair lіkе there’s nо tomorrow. Ρеt shedding ѕеаѕоn is upоn you, аnd everything іn your hоuѕе. Kitties hаvе lesser аmоuntѕ of hаіr, but bаѕіcаllу shed аѕ they clеаn themselves уеаr around. Саt hair, bеіng finer, аlѕо tends tо glue іtѕеlf to уоur couch, bеd rugs аnd any оthеr fabric. Ηеrе we ѕhоw you ѕоmе ways tо head оff major pet shedding аnd how tо minimize thе problem аt all tіmеѕ.

1. Groom уоur pet wееklу, using аn appropriate bruѕh that’s mаdе for thе characteristics аnd sensitivity оf your pеt’ѕ fur аnd skin. Α thorough, wееklу grooming rеmоvеѕ the lооѕе fur bеfоrе it dіѕtrіbutеѕ itself, оn you аnd your furnіѕhіngѕ. This аlѕо stimulates thе hair fоllіclеѕ and dіѕtrіbutеѕ your pеt’ѕ natural оіlѕ, with а nice ѕhіnу, healthy cоаt and lеѕѕ shedding, tо show fоr your еffоrtѕ.

2. Shampoo уоur pet whеnеvеr he оr she nееdѕ it. Τhіѕ will bе obvious! Uѕе a ѕhаmpоо formulated fоr your pеt. Dog ѕhаmpооѕ sometimes іncludе flea аnd tick kіllеrѕ and mау be tоо strong аnd harsh fоr a kіttу’ѕ system tо tolerate. Uѕе the rіght shampoo.

3. Τrіm fur іn areas whеrе the fur becomes quіtе thick іn winter, аѕ in thе case оf the tаіlѕ and rеаr legs оf German ѕhеphеrdѕ and Lаbrаdоrѕ. Grooming wіll help, but matting cаn still rеѕult. If уоu let thіѕ go, whеn pet ѕhеddіng season bеgіnѕ, you’ll еnd up cuttіng out mаttеd hair. Whеn Fido ѕtаrtѕ shedding nаturаllу, in rеѕpоnѕе to wаrmеr days, уоu’ll have unаttrаctіvе, uneven pаtchеѕ.

4. Water-repellent fаbrіc sprays, dеѕіgnеd to аllоw you tо wipe up spills оn upholstery, аlѕо serve уоu well іn the pеt shedding аrеnа. The hаіr won’t ѕtіck very wеll, making іt far еаѕіеr to wіpе it оff with а slightly dаmp cloth. Vаcuumіng is аlѕо easier аnd less tіmе consuming.

Following thіѕ program wіll minimize bоth excessive pet shedding аnd maintenance. Νоw, it’s tоо bad оur pets dоn’t seem tо understand Εnglіѕh. Then, уоu could ѕіmplу chastise thеm, just аѕ you dо your kіdѕ. “Hey, gеt your fееt off thе chair, plеаѕе!”

How to Shave Your Dog Properly

Article by Agung Swiyanto

Shaving your pet dog would not only keep your dog clean and neat but would also make them more comfortable. For long-haired dogs, shaving their coat can help prevent heat strokes especially during summer. A lot of dog owners have been wondering how to shave a dog correctly by themselves without having to visit a pet grooming salon. The following are steps on how to shave a dog.

In learning how to shave a dog, choose the right shaver. Although using regular human shavers is okay, they heat up quickly and have the tendency to pull your dog’s hair or fur. Pet shavers are available at different pet shops or even at pet grooming salons.

Place your dog on a table with an overhead. Tie a leash to his collar so that your dog keeps his head up. This can also prevent the dog from jumping off the table. In the absence of an overhead, you can just hold the dog’s collar.

With a #10 blade on the pet shaver, start shaving your dog’s face, being careful not to poke your dog’s eyes. Shave against the body (not doing so might cut your dog’s skin). If your dog starts moving his head, wait until he settles down before continuing on shaving his fur. This is important when learning how to shave a dog.

When done shaving the head, move to shaving his ears. Shaving the outer parts of his ears is as important as shaving the corners of his inner ears. Be careful in shaving this part as your dog might move his head around too much and might cause you to accidentally nick his skin with the shaver.

After shaving the ears, move to his underarms. Lift up his arm and start shaving there. Do the same with the other underarm.

Next stop is the groin area. Lift his leg in the way he does when he goes to pee. Start shaving under the legs. Shaving this part will help in keeping himself clean when doing his business.

Go on shaving your dog’s bottom part as well. Raise his tail and start shaving around his bottom area.

After shaving all these important parts, shave the all the fur from the rest of his body. Before doing so, switch your #10 blade with a larger one. It is best to start from behind the dog’s head, going down to the neck, to his back part, and down on both his sides. Take care when shaving the belly part as this is a very sensitive part.

The above steps would help any dog owner who wants to learn how to shave a dog. Make sure that if your dog gets nervous easily, make him accustomed to the sound of the shaver first before using it on him as it might make him panic too much. Clean and oil your pet shaver regularly to prevent fur from building up. Remember that shaving your dog is not only a grooming essential but is also a good way of bonding with your pet.

Dog Hair Grooming Need to Knows

Dog Grooming

Dog Hair Grooming Need to Knows

Article by Karen Winton

Proper dog hair grooming helps keep your pup healthy and clean. Dog hair trimming, is in fact, a valuable process in grooming your dog. The first step to do it yourself dog grooming that works is for you to ensure that you have gathered all tools that you’ll be using during the session. Some of the supplies used when you cut dog hair include: scissors or a shaver, comb or brush, etc.

Combing or brushing your dog’s hair can actually be a pleasant activity for your pet. First, you have to select a bench or a table where your pooch can comfortably rest on as you groom his hair.

Prior to starting the session and during the session, you should also not forget to reassure him that everything will be fine. Talk to your dog in a soothing voice and stroke him from time to time to make him feel at ease. If your pet sniffs some of the dog hair grooming tools, let him — that is one way of letting him know that what is about to take place is not to be feared.

Using the right type of brush or comb is also a must. Short haired and medium haired pups should be brushed with combs that have short bristles, while long haired dogs should be combed with long bristles. Fine toothed combs are meant for short – medium haired dogs, while wide toothed combs should be used on long haired pets.

Dog hair grooming is also essential in removing matted hair. Breeds that have short coats or straight coats usually do not experience hair matting. If your dog has curly hair, long hair, or thick coats, however, you can expect a frequency in the formation of hair mattes.

For slight matting, you’ll have no problems in do it yourself dog grooming as you can easily comb out the hair mattes. Remember to be gentle when combing, though. For more intense matting, you may have to cut dog hair or worse, spend money in bringing your pet to a professional groomer who can fix the tight matting problem.

Trimming is also a vital procedure of grooming your dog. If your pooch is a short haired breed, you can expect very little need for trimming. Long haired pooches and those with fine hair may need trimming more often. Others may also need to undergo stripping, another process of dog hair grooming, which is meant to take away dead hair through a tool called a dresser or a stripper.

Disregarding your dog’s matte hair can actually lead to infections and bacteria growth, which is why you should not forget to groom your dog’s hair on a regular basis. Dog hair grooming is a process that should not be skipped, if you want your dog to remain beautiful, healthy, and comfortable.

How To Keep Your Dog’s Coat Looking Great

Dog Grooming

How To Keep Your Dog’s Coat Looking Great

Article by Paul P. Duxbury

Dogs, unlike cats, do not sit and groom themselves by the hour. Actually, most dogs could not care less about their appearance and are happiest when they are rolling around on the ground on something stinky they have found.

Unfortunately for them, ‘essence of Fido’ is not a favorite scent of humans and wading through bales of shedding dog hair left on the furniture is very overrated. So until our canine companions totally take over, they will have to live with us grooming them and trying to keep their coats healthy and shiny looking.

Pet salons provide a full range of dog grooming services and many people opt to take advantage of their services. Prices are usually reasonable and all the mess and fuss is left to the professionals. However, for a variety of reasons not everyone elects to go this route; some do not bother grooming at all and others just do it themselves at home.

To varying degrees, all dogs require grooming. Long-haired dogs should be brushed and combed two or three times a week. Dogs with thick undercoats should have the dead hair combed out weekly. This will accelerate the shedding process and avoid hairy carpets and furniture. Dogs with shorter hair should still be brushed and rubbed down frequently to keep their coats and skin smart and healthy.

Just like any project, proper grooming requires both technique and tools of the trade. A fine-toothed comb should be used to rake fleas from the coat and for grooming soft, silky coated dogs. The shedding comb offers a skip-tooth design; its long teeth pull dead hair from the undercoat while the short teeth collect loose hair. It is also an excellent tool for removing matted hair. The undercoat rake is especially designed for breeds with thick, heavy coats and undercoats. The teeth are thick, allowing the rake to attack the undercoat while being pulled gently through the dog’s hair.

Although bathing is an essential component in keeping your dog’s coat fresh and presentable, it should not be overdone. Most veterinarians suggest bathing a dog no more than once a month. Over bathing can dry a dog’s skin and lead to hot spots and itching, which can lead to scratching and infection. If a dog is to be bathed more than once a month, an aloe based shampoo and conditioners should be used and foods and supplements with Omega fatty acids should be given to bolster the production of coat oils.

Daily examinations, though admittedly a little too demanding and time consuming for the average pet owner, are a valuable tool in maintaining a dog’s appearance and good health. The dog should be checked for cuts, rashes, fleas, ticks, bumps and burrs and other hitchhikers that might attach to the coat. These should be removed and antibiotics or appropriate medications applied as necessary. Flea allergies and contact allergies can cause skin eruptions and should be treated immediately.

It should be remembered that good skin and a healthy coat begin with a good diet. Usually, a good grade dry dog food will provide all of the nutrition and essential dietary elements necessary to keep a dog in good health. If a dog’s coat is dull or its skin appears itchy, sometimes a change in diet is necessary. However, most often vitamin or fatty acid supplements will eliminate the problem.

As mentioned previously, professional groomers are readily available and should not be overlooked if grooming becomes too demanding. In addition to bathing and combing and thinning the dog’s undercoat, they also clean the ears and clip the dog’s nails. Actually, nails should be clipped weekly and often this is a chore that neither the dog nor the owner handle well. In recent years, the traveling groomer has emerged on the grooming scene. These professionals will come to your home in their Van, which is fully equipped for grooming, and complete the full bathing and grooming process right in your own driveway.

Our dogs ask little in return for the limitless love and devotion they bestow upon us. Helping them maintain their health by keeping them groomed is the least we can do to reward their affection.
