Walking Your Dog With a Harness

Walking your Dog with a Harness

There are several benefits that you can get out of a dog collar. First of all, you can have something to hold your dog tag, which is essential just in case your small one starts to wander somewhere without your notice.

However, dog collars can be potentially dangerous to the health of your pet. Thus, instead of using it, go for a dog harness.

Dogs, just like humans, have trachea. Its almost like a hose of a vacuum cleaner, where air can pass through. When youre going to pull the collar, you are actually restricting the proper flow of air into the lungs of your dog. Subsequently, he may pass out because of the collapse of his trachea, or worse, die because of lack of oxygen.

Small dogs have extremely delicate necks. When your dog is wearing a collar and starts to pull away, the entire weight of the dog will be on his neck. It wouldnt come as a surprise if he gets more than just bruises on this body part, potentially suffering from serious back injury.

Thats why you need a dog harness. For one, the soft harness can distribute the overall weight of your dog across his shoulders; thus, each time he pulls away, his neck doesnt suffer from any strain, which prevents any injury from occurring. It also comes with a chest belt, which you can easily adjust depending on the size of the dog. Moreover, since the harness doesnt have to be tied around his neck, theres no way that you can obstruct the passage of air.

If youre worrying of losing control over your dog, you can just buy a dog harness that comes together with a leash or a lead. There are plenty of beautiful designs to choose from.

Get rid of your dog collars and go for a qualitydog harness instead. Puppia is currently the leader in the market with their famous soft harness, made of the finest materials around, such as fine cotton mesh and suede. They dont only protect, your dogs neck but they provide your dog with complete comfort throughout your walk. Whats more, there are a variety of patterns to pick – from hip to single colored ones.

Dogs Harness question by venom: Is a dog harness better than a leash?
I got a pure bred German Shepherd last weekend and have yet to get his collar because I wanted to know weather a body harness or a collar is better for him. I did not get him for work or search and rescue or any of that stuff just as a good companion dog to take down to the river and all that good stuff that happens in the country but anyway which one is better for him?

Harness! Collars can choke them and harnesses are easier to control them.

Are Dog Collars Or Dog Harnesses Better For Your Dog?
Dogs Harness

You love your little pooch, and you want to take the best care of them that you can. When you try to do this a questions starts to arise for you, and that is should you get a dog harness or a dog collar for your favorite pup? Many dog owners have this question, and the answer really depends on what type of dog that you have.

For large canines, dog harnesses can be useful. However, for large pups it can be incredibly difficult to get the harness onto the dog. That being said, for small canines a dog harness can be a great choice because it is better for their overall health. Use your best judgment when trying to fit a dog harness onto a canine, and do some research to find the right harness that will fit your dog securely.

Dog collars are very useful when you are training a dog. They are great to teach your dog different tricks or routines. Additionally, they can be ideal to place your furry friends identification tags on. However, for all of the positives when it comes to small pups, collars can actually cause some damage. Small pups have delicate bone structure and weaker necks which can be harmed by a collar. Wearing a collar can make it difficult for your little guy to breath properly. If you do not properly secure the collar and accidentally put it on too tight it can chafe and scrape your dogs skin. Additionally, for a small dog a traditional collar may just be uncomfortable.

A harness is a good choice for a little dog because it is constructed in a way that protects your dog from accidental neck and back injuries should he jerk suddenly while on a leash. Basically, the harness is fitted around your dogs chest so that the weight from a yank is not concentrated in one place. Additionally, your dog will feel more comfortable in a harness because it makes for a very secure and supportive fit. Because of this fit if you are walking your dog and he jerks suddenly you do not have to worry as much about potential neck or back injury. Another worry with anything that you put around your dog and onto their skin is that it may chafe, and thankfully harnesses are generally made out of nylon type material which does not tend to irritate your dogs skin.

The choice is really yours and is dependent on what size your dog is. The good news is that there is quite a few options of both dog collars and dog harnesses on the market. This allows you to customize your dogs apparel to your liking. Additionally, both dog collars and harnesses are made out of a variety of materials which allows you to choose one that will be comfortable for your dog breed and their type of fur. You can choose the colors that you like, the patterns that you like, and of course the product that you like.

Dogs Harness question by AlejandraG: Can i keep my dogs harness on her all the time?
I plan to get a dog harness for my doberman. I would like to take her up to the mountain and run with her. But its not really a walk when we go out for one. Its more like a drag, she drags me. so i was wondering can i leave the harness on her or do i have to take it off and when i take her to run up the mountain do i put it on.

My other question is is it hard to put it on the dog?
like how would i go on putting on her?

Dogs Harness best answer:

Answer by ladystang
you could but i take my harnesses off as they mat hair if left on.
trained mine to get dressed. she puts in head then lifts left leg, then right leg for me to buckle.
get a gentle leader and train her to walk with you.
