Here are some tips to help you groom your pet easily and effectively :

Brushing Your Pet : Brushing your Dog occasionally will keep your Dog shiny and will also remove the hair which your Animal sheds. Make sure you are using the appropriate brush for this. Long haired breeds will require daily grooming and shorter haired breeds every 3-5 days. Brushing is the most essential and effective part of Animal Grooming and should especially be focused more in summer when the Dog starts shedding its winter coat (hair).

Set Your Animal’s Bath Time: Your Dog needs baths and you should make a schedule to do this each day. This will remove dirt, unwanted smell, etc. from your Animal. Choose the appropriate shampoo which is suitable for your Dog’s skin type. Some times, it is advisable to consult or hire a professional Dog groomer for this.

Clean Your Dog’s Teeth: Make sure you take time to clean your Dog’s teeth everyday. This way your Dog will not smell foul and will not build up plaque.

Clip Your Dog’s Nails Occasionally: Long nails carry dirt and also put scratches on the Dog owner when an excited Dog jumps on them. It is a must, clip your Dog’s nails occasionally as a part of your Dog Grooming.

Ears and Eyes of Your Dog : These parts are generally overlooked, but are as essential in the Dog grooming process as others. An ear cleaner can be used to clean up wax building inside your Dog’s ears. A tear strain remover can be used for removing tear strains from under your Dog’s eyes.

Note: There are some things that you should not do while grooming your Dog. Don’t cut your Dog’s nails above the quick, which is the pink part of the nail. Doing so can be very painful to your Dog. Also don’t cut off your pet’s fur in winters months.

Brushes, combs, clippers, ribbons and bows: what do we know about grooming our dog? A groomed dog is a happy dog, and just like people, your dog will feel better if they are clean and well groomed.

Grooming your dog yourself can easily be done at home with a little practice. Brushing your dog is a good start. With several different brushes available to the consumer, you will have to choose the one that works best for your dogs hair coat. Brushing your dog removes dirt and loose hair and prevents mats from forming. Unfortunately, sometimes those mats are already there and they need to be removed before bathing the dog. Carefully clean your dogs eyes and gently wipe out your dogs ears, noticing if there is any redness or tenderness to the ears. If there is an odor coming from the ears, or your dog seems to be in pain, seek out a veterinarians advice.

Check your dogs teeth, and again check with your veterinarian for instructions on keeping them clean.

Toenails that grow too long can be painful for a dog, so use a toenail clipper made just for dogs to clip them. You can find these clippers at stores where pet products are sold.

Now your dog is ready for the bath. Be careful not to get water in the dogs ears and eyes. Thoroughly wet its coat and apply shampoo made for dogs. Gently lather the dogs hair coat; once lathered be sure to rinse the shampoo out completely. Dry your dogs coat with an absorbent towel, or if you have a long haired dog, consider using a blow dryer. 8. A brush and other grooming implements, especially if you have a long haired dog. Long haired dogs need extra care to keep their coats looking healthy and neat. You may need to purchase different types of combs, for untangling knots and getting at the dog’s undercoat. Make sure you know what type of grooming tools your need for your breed of dog.

9. Nail clippers to keep your dog’s nails neat. There are special dog nail clippers available.

10. Dog shampoo for when you give your dog a bath.
