The Benefits Of Having Dog Grooming Clippers

Article by Rud Silva

Dog grooming clippers are required if you need to clip your dog’s fur. Clipping is among the most expensive maintenance to have if you have a dog. And this is especially true if the fur is very thick. If you don’t have your own clippers, then the grooming can be done by a professional, which can be very expensive.

In choosing clippers, the price is a very important determining factor. Of course, more expensive clippers have more features. And these features are more advanced, like for example, having interchangeable blade sizes, multiple speeds, and a battery pack.

If your dog has thick fur, your dog grooming clippers must have multiple blade sizes because it would take awhile to clip the fur of your dog. Dog owners prefer the clippers with cord so they would just have to plug it into the electric socket if the battery needs charging while grooming the dog.

Oster is the name of a clipper maker that is highly respected. Although there are other manufacturers, the oster-style interchangeable blades are very popular. Oster clippers also come in single speed or two speeds. Both the single speed and two speeds use 220-240 AC power. Both also come with a size 10 blade.

Another maker is the Andis. Andis dog grooming clippers have a range of different types of clipper and sets. It also has two speeds clippers for extra strength when trimming the dog’s very thick coat. Andis also has cordless grooming clipper. Known as Andic power trim cordless rechargeable trimmer D-4, it comes with rechargeable stand.

Some grooming clippers come with grooming blade and comb or brush. This brush or comb is needed to brush off the coat that is trimmed or to brush out the coat that should not be included in trimming. The clippers too need to be serviced as part of their maintenance, like sharpening them together with the blades every year or so depending on how often they are used.

If your dog grooming clippers are used for personal use, then surely the clippers and the blade will not go dull easily as compared to when they are used commercially such as hosting a dog grooming salon. There are also times when you need to apply oil onto the clippers’ mechanics inside the device. It could also be that the fur clippings of the dog will be sucked in while trimming.

The blade of the clipper is an important consideration when you purchase clippers. The higher the number on the blade, the closer is the cut. So, if your dogs have thick fur, you can start choosing your blade from numbers 5 and 10. These blades are efficient in clipping stubborn coat.

You can also play with other blade’s higher number depending on how you would want your dog to look after trimming. There are styles that would fit for certain breeds. Thus, you have to choose dog grooming clippers that have interchangeable blades.

The comb mentioned earlier can also be used while trimming to help achieve professional results and even when you trim for your dogs. If the combs are separately bought, ensure that your dog grooming clippers will accept the comb attachment.

You need Professional dog grooming clippers? The type of the blade is a topmost consideration for clippers. If you come to DogGroomingClippers.com, you will get ideas what else to look for in a dog clippers. We also suggest quality brands, so that you won’t be wasting your money. Dog Grooming Table question by TwistedxKiss: Any ideas on how to handle grooming for a grumpy old dog?
I have a 15 year old affenpinscher. His health is not perfect, but well managed between my family and our vet. However, he has developed the habit of biting anyone who touches him when he would rather not be bothered. He was never a biter before, and even in his teething stages NEVER bit my mother. We’ve checked it over with the vet and he is not in pain, the theory is that he’s just old and crabby and being stubborn. Affenpinschers are very stubborn dogs and he is well over his life expectancy, so that seems feasible to me.

The problem is that his groomer told us not to bring him anymore. He has always been a bit bad at the groomer, I expect he probably wasn’t socialized very well. (I am only 5 years older than him, so it wasn’t my responsibility to ensure this. Spare me the lecture, I’ve already given it to my parents. icon razz Aosom Portable Folding Pet Dog Cat Grooming Table w/ Wheels ) Apparently he slipped out of the little leash thing and nearly fell off the table, and when someone grabbed him to catch him he actually tore flesh from their thumb, as well as biting two other people during the appointment. So they told us that he’s just too old and badly behaved for them to handle safely anymore, and to get him groomed at the vet’s instead where he will be safer. But our vet doesn’t groom, and the only one in the area that does, our neighbor’s dog came home from with a broken leg that they neglected to explain. So my dear Max will not be going anywhere near there.

His hair grows way too long and causes him problems, so not grooming him is not an option.

Does anybody have any ideas of how to handle this? I am at a loss. If he’d let me I’d just trim up his face by myself, he’s too old for vanity at this point, but I’m afraid he’d fidget and I’d accidentally cut him or something. He isn’t cut very close to his eyes, it’s mostly hair on top of his head that hangs down, but I don’t want to risk it.
NOTE: The biting is NOT a constant thing. He is only nippy in the late evening when he starts to get sleepy and ought to be left alone anyway, and when he knows his insulin is coming soon (or grooming, apparently.) 95% of the time he is perfectly well behaved, playful, and affectionate. I don’t want anyone to think that he’s completely vicious. While unacceptable either way, the behavior is only during specific isolated circumstances, and he behaves normally otherwise.
The biting isn’t all that offended the groomers. They are concerned that he slipped out of the leash and almost fell off the table. They are afraid he will get hurt as well. So a muzzle and the groomer won’t work, and if AT ALL possible, I’d like to avoid stressing him out that much due to his age.
The reason why his face MUST be maintained is because he was born with some sort of eye condition that causes them to not produce enough moisture, and so his eyes get all goopy and gross. He has medicated drops and drops for moisture, and we clean out his eyes daily, so we do keep on it. But when his hair is long, his eyes could goop up during the night and make the hair crust his eyes shut. When he’s being groomed regularly there is no problem, but now we are having serious troubles.

And he has hair growing out between his pads that is making him slip on the kitchen floor, too. icon sad Aosom Portable Folding Pet Dog Cat Grooming Table w/ Wheels
I am familiar with Acepromazine. The vet says that sedating him at his age is out of the question.

Necessities Of Dog Grooming

Article by Becky Echols

Dog grooming should be a major part of your dog care regimen as a responsible owner. The right grooming helps your dog both look good. Grooming embodies several different areas. Here we have a glance at the essential of dog grooming.

One of the first things to do to ensure your dog is groomed correctly is to brush his / her hair. Not brushing your dog’s hair regularly enough could lead to entangled fur which in turn could end up damaging the dog’s coat. Regular brushing can help to stop that and maintain the coat.

You shouldn’t overdo the brushing my doing so every day. How often your brush your dog’s hair will rely wholly on the length of the coat. Dogs with longer hair generally need brushing more continually in comparison with those with shorter hair.

Washing your dog is also an essential part of grooming. A bath is guarantees that your dog is both clean and well groomed. Showering constantly doesn’t simply keep your dog’ coat clean but also dumps a bacteria or germ sticking to his coat. A number of these bacteria or germs could pose a threat to the dog’s health if left unbridled and cause infections and other illness.

You don’t have to clean your dog on a daily basis. Usually, bathing them once a month suffices adequately. if your dog has soiled himself, he should be given a bath at the earliest. There are certain considerations to take into account while showering your dog though. One such consideration is the water temperature. The water should be of moderate temperature and neither to hot nor cold. Also, ensure that the hair shampoos you use on your pet are of top spec.

Another important aspect of dog grooming is nail trimming. If your dog has long nails, he may be more in the power of various illnesses. This is because the nails attract dust and other bacteria.

This makes your dog prone to illnesses. So, it is important that you trim your dog’s nails on a regular basis. It is likely that your dog may resist nail trimming. This is primarily because dogs don’t appreciate their nails being trimmed. So, you’ll have to handle your dog with great care. Try not to cut the nails precisely from the sides as even a little discomfort can make your dog go berserk. Ensure that you use professional dog clippers to trim your pet’s nails.

Thus, whether you are way more worried about the way your dog looks or feels- grooming can contribute greatly to the final health and wellbeing of your dog. Simply follow these essentials and your dog will both look and feel good.

Clipping Your Dog’s Hair As Part Of Grooming Routine

Article by Richard Perkins

Clipping the hair of your dog is just as essential as it is to wash it. Some dog owners tend to shy away from this task for one reason or other. This may be based on past experiences or an attitude that makes hair clipping simply a peripheral activity. We will look at hair clipping here in general and hopefully, you will benefit from a few tips.

The first step is to get all the equipment and supplies that you will need to carry out an effective procedure. One of such equipment is a grooming table which is designed specifically for these kinds of tasks. The table can be adjusted to a height of your choice and has a leash to fasten the dog and minimize its movements while you clip. Place your dog in the middle of table and let is lie or stand. Once it has been fastened, clipping may start.

Start by clipping the body parts that are less sensitive such as the back or sides. This helps your hand gets used to the clipping while also helping relax the dog. Clip away leaving a narrow layer of hair on the dog’s body. Strive to clip evenly across the whole body. Certain parts will be sensitive and harder to clip such as between legs and so on. These will require the dog to be calmer. Fortunately, the clippers in today’s markets are fairly safe to use and will be adjusted to any height you want.

As you clip, use the opportunity to also conduct a physical examination for any swollen areas or cuts so that you may attend to them. When done well, this massage will help the dog stay calm. If cuts exist, you will need to clean with sterile material and cover it up. Be careful not to clip hair into wounds since these may carry germs.

The size and type of dog has influence on the type of clipper you want to use. A small dog will probably need only a medium duty clipper but a large dog may do well with a heavy duty clipper. Heavy duty clippers have high speeds and are suitable when you want to do a lot of clipping quickly. If you are new to dog clipping you should start with lighter clippers before switching to heavy duty.

Since there will be a lot of hair after you clip, you should determine in advance how you will handle this. Small children should not be nearby when you clip. They might try eating the hair and this can be very dangerous. Work where is easy to collect after you clip. If you are doing it outdoors, you should determine in advance the wind directions to minimize the fur or hair that will be blown into your face or clothes.

Finally, create sufficient time to clip your dog’s hair as part of the grooming routine. If you are hard pressed for time, you can use professional people to do this for you. The best way to create time usually is to have a regular schedule for clipping.
